ToyBoss/Toybox – The toy photo galleries have been redone and now share a bit of code with the pixel art galleries. Not sure how much you’ll notice on your side of the screen, but hopefully this makes the page load more quickly. It also lets me add a lot of photos that I left out to keep the page’s file size down. Some of the galleries now have different urls, but the old ones should still work, too.
Double Dragon: Syndicate Collectibles: First I got Jimmy Lee and took some new photos of both brothers and some faked enemies. Then I got Willy, the game’s final boss and a beast of an action figure, and took a group pic of all three regular figures. Keeping my fingers crossed that this line continues, especially for Abobo and Linda.
Street Fighter: New heroes group shot including my new Jada Toys Blanka. I’m SLOWLY catching up in this line.
Masters of the Universe: New gallery with three new Masterverse pics.
Marvel Legends: A big group shot of characters who were in the Marvel side of the legendary Mego World’s Greatest Super-Heroes toy line up (except Conan).
DC Comics: added Justice League “original seven” pic and updated heroes pic, including new additions McF Martian Manhunter and Captain Marvel/Shazam.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: updated heroes lineup pic with NECA comic Casey Jones (gray shirt), archive pic of the Pizza Club boxes stacked up.
Wrestling: added an old “everybody I have” photo from March 16th, 2024. Sadly, I didn’t have a figure of Stone Cold then.

The site anniversary is on the 19th of July, but I don’t know what I’ll be able to finish for it because I’ll be working on commissions for a while. I already have a few finished sprites to add and linework already drawn for more, so it definitely won’t be an empty update.

The brand new Warp Point website brings a new school approach to the old school concept of video game website webrings. It groups together the latest updates from a wide, growing variety of video game fansites, and I’m proud to say that the ScrollBoss site was invited to be a part of it, too. With the internet being cluttered with more and more meaningless slop, it’s a great way to find new game sites or be notified that a favorite site recently updated. Their 88 x 31 pixel button (so glad to see that format making a comeback) is now part of this site’s sidebar quick links, and I’ll be adding it to more places soon, so you (and I) and go there and see what the other sites are up to. Really, that’s how it was when I started in the 00s and I’m grateful that someone has brought that back again!

Beatdown City Survivors, the horror-flavored sequel to Treachery in Beatdown City, has been available for a while, and you can get the scoop on the official site!

Once again shouting out the Pizza Kidd pixel art beat ’em up Kickstarter, fighting its way to the finish line, so please help out if you can!

Kimimi made a post about getting Escalator Action (not a typo, not a photo manipulation) and I’ve been waiting for that review ever since. That wait is over, so check it out on Kimimi’s blog!

Last week’s update just wasn’t enough, so let’s go back to Eternia for a bit of extra fun!

Custom Sprites: Masters of the Universe
– new Evil-Lyn sprite using the same base as the Teela sprite I added last week.
– new Mer-Man sprites using the Vintage Figure side pose.
– The He-Man, Teela, Skeletor, and Tri-Klops sprites from last week’s update all have improvements, including height adjustments.

Custom Sprites: Illmosis
– new sprite of Hilde/Santessa in work clothes and holding a Teela Masters of the Universe figure. Giving Hilde a non-Christmas-y look is something I’d thought about for a while, but multiple people wanting to see her show up more pushed me to finally sprite it.

All new and/or improved sprites added to the GFX Generator and this new short video for Masters of the Universe.

There’ll be more fun in Eternia later this year, especially as I work on that “vintage toy” sprite base (which debuted in last week’s update) to help fill out the roster a bit more. I still have some personal favorites that need to be made.

Still planning to add to the toy section of this site before the month is over along with getting ready to do some time sensitive commission work. I got one roster update pic done last week and will cook up a few more this weekend. But here’s a few pics with some of my newest (for now) items, including a Wall XD Artist Proof Display Panel by DioBolic Studios. It’s still unpainted, I might just wait until getting a second section and paint them at the same time so they’ll match. Funny enough, I got the Teela the day after last week’s update.

Masterverse Teela, NECA Comic Casey Jones, McFarlane Toys Martian Manhunter on a Wall XD all-gray street background

Toy-related things I got in early June 2026. Two Joneses, a Teela, and a piece of street.

McFarlane Toys Martian Manhunter and NECA Comic-style Casey Jones on a section of WallXD background.

Vigilante goes out on patrol and finds a completely different green dude than usual.

Pizza Kidd is back on the menu, check out the Kickstarter campaign here for the stylized pixel art beat ’em up!

Help Pizza Kidd deliver sci-fi-flavored pixel art brawling mayhem by backing the Kickstarter! Try a slice by getting the demo on Steam.

The Masters of the Universe movie is in theaters now, so I figured (sensible chuckle) this would be the right time to add some Eternian pixels to the site!

Custom Sprites: Masters of the Universe
– He-Man: new “I have the POWER” pose, all new sprite with parts of his original harness were from my 2017 scratch-made sprite.
– Skeletor: redone Havok Staff stand sprite, using parts of a new sprite base I made and piece of my 2021 sprite.
– Teela: new sprite with Masterverse-style weapons
– all-new sprites of Tri-Klops and Buzz-Off in the 1982 stance (I’ll explain in a sec).

He-Man and Skeletor now have separate galleries and their earlier sprites have been moved there.

Props to long-time friend of the site (and contributor) Psicoso for suggesting I make a standard base for MotU characters. It’s something I didn’t do before because I thought people would be mad if they had the same bodies… even though the original toyline did it first. That first pose is based directly on the 1982 toy sculpt. Then my new He-Man and Skeletor sprites have parts made to match this new base. Do you like how these sprites look? I’m not promising that I’ll make the whole line, but I’ll make a lot more with this base.

The new sprites were also added to the GFX Generator, along with an all-new background outside Castle Grayskull! This was something I’d started in 2025 but wasn’t satisfied with the castle I was drawing, so I drew it over again this year. There are still some things I’d like to add to it, but it’s good enough to show now. I’ve also added a custom Masters of the Universe theme to the MvC ending. Check THIS out:

I made that Grayskull-ish background for the text, along with that new dialogue font based on what you’d see on the old-school MotU toy packaging. Trying to find all those letters, numbers and symbols on different cardbacks almost took as much time as it took to draw them.

If you’re a Masters of the Universe fan, more sprites based on this series and Princess of Power (1980s) will be added this year, along withe replacements for earlier sprites I’ve made.

I’ll be doing some special case commission work later this month, so this site will probably be quiet for a while. There will be a toy section update this month that would’ve happened last month if Amazon hadn’t canceled my Nendoroid Kirby re-issue pre-order on the day they were supposed to deliver it. Am I still salty about that? YES I AM, because I can’t find it for regular price anywhere now. Luckily, I’ve got some other things in that’ll let me update some rosters, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and DC Comics.

The next main update will be on July 19th, 2026, the 26th Anniversary of the site. I’ll be concentrating on games more for that one.

This update stars one horror movie classic from the 70s and one from the 80s, but this update has a little something for almost everyone!

Custom Sprites:
Nightmare on Elm Street: celebrating the 40th anniversary of that first film with new sprites of Freddy and Tina
Horror: Regan from the Exorcist, Acid Dracula (WNUF Halloween Special)
Masters of the Universe: Shadow Weaver (She-Ra)
Night Slashers: updated Hong Hua with redrawn head.
ScrollBoss characters: Vonetta (a.k.a. Vernacula) gets a new pose

Mini-logos: The Exorcist added to movies.

GFX Generators: all new custom sprites and mini-logos have been added to the generators, where you can make your own graphics like the one at the top of this post!

Couldn’t let you go without giving you a another short video for the HorrorThon, so here it is!

Take care and have Happy Halloween!

The fan-made Mega Splatterhouse demo for Genesis/Mega Drive is available for download, so run and get it while you can!

In related news, West Mansion, the Splatterhouse Fan Site, updated today, so check the news page to see what’s new!

G.I.JOE: Low-Light v.1, Red Ninja added. Redrew Grunt from scratch and made a Footloose based on the base sprite. BTW: this FINALLY replaces all my ancient Capcom edits in G.I.JOE gallery (but they’re still there to see in a sub-gallery.
M.A.S.K.: Vanessa Warfield (masked and unmasked) added to the new separate gallery
Street Fighter: scratch-made G.I.JOE versions of Blanka and Ryu
Toys and Cartoons:Skull (Super Naturals) and… Barbie? Yes, Barbie. That lady’s everywhere.
Marvel Comics: Secret Wars Mattel Magneto
Illmosis: My Christmas mascot (and toy store owner) Hilde Santessa

portraits: Street Fighter Alpha 3 – Snake-Eyes and Cobra Commander

Mini-logos: Barbie and Super Naturals
ToyBoss: group shot of Golden Axe (Storm Collectibles), Super Mario (Jakks) (only five figures, just got Luigi, Peach, and a 2nd Mario in a 3-pack).

GFX Generators: All new custom sprites were also added to the generators. Still finding and fixing things from the PHP upgrade (that’ll be going on a looong time). Also added:
– the Toy Aisle background got a big update, with more variations to figures (all wave 1 Super Powers figures carded) and many more boxes (especially the Transformers section). Some weird issue is keeping a thumbnail of the new version of showing up on the background selection screen on my hard drive’s copy of the site.

Finally, the toys get their own video this year. Check it out here or on the ScrollBoss YouTube Channel!

Thank you for stopping by! Whatever it is you’re celebrating or not celebrating, I hope you have a good weekend

Custom Sprites: Finally, every character in the Marvel and DC gallery that only had a sprite edit based on a Capcom fighting game sprite now has a sprite I made from scratch. I’ve been working toward this goal on the side for a while, but I just decided to clear them all out before 2021 ended. Some of these new sprites are exact or close replacements for the old poses, but not all of them. The edits for those characters who weren’t originally in the games will be removed from the Image Generators.
Megaman: Megaman classic – redid the Rockman 1 title screen pose from scratch, Elecman (NES stance), Dr. Wily, and (by popular demand) Yellow Devil
Run Saber (new separate gallery): Allen and Sheena, new scratch-made idle sprites
DC Comics: Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), Red Tornado, Green Lanterns Guy Gardner, Arisia, Katma Tui, Kilowog, and a new Justice League group sprite with the Brave and the Bold #28 line-up.
Marvel Comics: Archangel, Havok, Professor X, Psylocke, Rogue, X-23, Doctor Octopus, the Lizard, and new group sprites of the Avengers (issue #1) and the X-Men (Konami beat ’em up playable roster)
Masters of the Universe: new Skeletor sprite (with Havok Staff)
G.I.JOE: all-new scratch-made Quick Kick

Mini-Logos:
Atlus: Run Saber
Marvel Comics: Archangel, Professor X
DC Comics: Blue Beetle, Red Tornado

ToyBoss: Added a page for my first custom figure in FIFTEEN YEARS and first custom Marvel Legend has been added to the page, the Red Skull in his business suit (as seen in Data East’s Captain America and the Avengers)!

All sprites (except for the group sprites) have been added to the image generators, along with:
– the Comic Book arcade background being added to the main generator (Group, Vs., MvC Ending, Comic 88×136, Boxes).

Last, but definitely not least, there’s a Wrap-Up video on the ScrollBoss YouTube channel! The vid is a mix of clips from my 2021 videos (the Superhero Showcade with Iron Man and Batman, Beat ‘Em Up Showcade 2021, DangerTerrorHorrorThon, and more), a few updated clips (The Gotham villain scroll no longer has Bane in it), and some all-new clips, including some with the sprites in today’s update:

It’s been a tiring year (online and off), so I’m going to get some rest for a while. Thank you for coming through, I hope you have a great remainder of 2021, and I’ll see you on the other side of New Year’s Eve!

Shake a hand, shake a hand, because it’s that time of year again! I can’t afford to give out toys to all of my friends, so I make an update based on my favorite toys (mostly from the 80s), including toys based on preexisting licenses. This year, G.I.JOE and Masters of the Universe made some strong comebacks, even if some were ridiculously hard to find on store shelves. That’s enough from me, go open your presents!

G.I.JOE: Clutch (v.1 toy, v.1 comic, v.2 tan recolor)
Street Fighter: Chun-Li, Ken and M.Bison (all G.I.JOE figure v.1, made from parts of preexisting Joe and Cobra bodies with new heads)
Masters of the Universe: Zodac (last figure needed for original line-up of figures), Hordak (highly-requested)
Thundercats: Tygra (finishing the original crew of adult Thundercats who weren’t ghosts, sorry Jaga)

All new sprites added to the main image generator!

Whatever it is that you’re celebrating this time of year, I hope it’s a great time for you!

BTW: this WON’T be the last site update for the year… stay tuned…

First things first, if you’re reading this on the site’s main menu, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, the layout’s slightly different. I’ve moved the header, added some new header images (with many more to come) and rearranged a few other things, but I’m not done yet. Please expect more main menu mutations in the near future.

Toybox/ToyBoss: “Wait, there’s a toy section on this site?” Yeah, a small toy section was made for the site back when the game-related figures I wanted were in my ramen-life price range. That was an entire era of G.I. JOE figures ago (the Joe vs. Cobra/Spy Troops/Valor vs. Venom style that most of the customs are in). This was originally going to be part of the Karnovember update, but I kept wanting to make sure it debuted with new things, like new pics of the G.I.JOE Radd Spencer and Rolento customs, because I didn’t have a camera when I finished the last details on the figures and kept forgetting to take shots with the new camera. I also added some other quick pics, including a couple of Marvel beat ’em up and side-scroller teams that I’ve completed in Marvel Legends scale. I’ve got ideas for better photo set-ups in the future, so just know that I didn’t revive this part of the site just to let it rot again.

Game Index: added Spider-Man (arcade)

Custom Sprites:
Masters of the Universe: Mer-Man and Catra (Filmation designs)
G.I. JOE: Hawk (versions 1 and 2)
Horror: because it’s Friday the 13th, Jason has an updated version of the Pt. III outfit/Pt. VII Axe kill pose (seen on the NES cart box). The shading is now closer to the version seen in the Horror 3 vs. 3 print. I also condensed the Friday the 13th section so Jason and his mother have sub-galleries with their older sprites.

As usual, all the new custom sprites have been added to the image generators, and the fighter-scale image generator now has the series 5 G.I.JOE card added to the G.I.JOE layout (with an explosion obviously based on the new Hawk sprite’s shape).

Custom Sprites: Roxy and Stormer make mischief on the outrageously new Jem gallery page, a new scratch-made sprite of Roadblock (v.1) joins the G.I.JOE page, Man-at-Arms finally appears on the Masters of the Universe page and Buttons McBoomBoom tries to steal the show on the Toys ‘n Toons hub page.

All of this has been added to the GFX Generator, where you’ll find a new “2018 Deadpool” option for the Marvel Legends box and (finally) word balloon options for the Kenner Super Powers tribute!

Keep an eye out for this year’s “Unfinished Business” update, which will drop before 2018 comes to a close.
“Why, is there going to be something special about it?”

There’s your answer.

Time for toys and time for cheer!

Custom Sprites
G.I. JOE: Stalker, Duke (new pose), Storm Shadow, Zarana
Masters of the Universe: She-Ra, Trap Jaw, Stratos
Toys and Cartoons: Aja and Shana (Jem), Matt Trakker (M.A.S.K.)

All these new sprites have been added to the main graphic generator, along with the new G.I. JOE 128×192 pixel layout used to display some of the new G.I.JOE sprites up there. It replaces the cruddy, shorter version I did a long time ago. I’ll be adding more versions of that card in the near future.

Wherever you and whatever you celebrate, I hope you have a happy one!
