Captain Commando (arcade)
200x100 GFX Company: Capcom
Genre: Beat 'em up
Released: USA: 1991 JPN: 1991
When Captain Commando, Capcom's early mascot, finally got to show his face in a game, he unselfishly shared the spotlight with a ninja, an intergalactic mummy and a genius baby in a Haggar-shaped mech. The Captain is all-heart like that. In the not-that-distant future, the four Commandos battle the forces of the mad geneticist, Scumocide. From the Metro City streets to the far reaches of outer space. While it's obvious that this game is a nod to the more wild, imaginative version of sci-fi, this game lets you fight a little bit of everything and everywhere. Street thugs, super-villains, robots, ninja, mutants, aliens, samurai and much more lurk in the most random variety of locations to ever show up in a video game. For a character meant to symbolize an entire company, anything less would be an insult to Captain Commando.
