Brawl Brothers (snes)
200x100 GFX Company: Jaleco
Genre: Beat 'em up
Released: USA: 1993 JPN: 1992
Jaleco took everything they'd learned with making Rival Turf (Rushing Beat in Japan) and improved upon nearly everything with it's sequel, Brawl Brothers. Dismissed by many as an average beat-em-up, this game features many twists that lazy people didn't seem to pick up on. The balanced set of five characters and you'll have to fight against the clones of the 3 that you didn't pick (remember kids: picking Kazan means not fighting Kazan!) Besides having most of the moves you'd want in a beat-em-up (including attacking downed enemies and carrying health items after you pick them up, taking a large amount of damage ignites Angry Mode. Known as Ikari Mode in Japan, you become an unstoppable brawling machine with increased attack power.

Rushing Beat Ran: Fukusei Toshi, the original Japanese version of the game, can be played with a code. All characters get their original names back and the rescued characters have their own unique Japanese dialogue. Letting the game sit for a while starts a demonstration mode that displays each character but the game seems to revert back to the U.S. Brawl Brothers mode if you let that finish. You also get the original credit sequence in the ending including the character-specific drawings.Douglas Bild still has a tan and lacks the 'below-the-belt' attack.
