Believe it or not, it bugs me when I don’t have custom sprites for all the playable characters in my favorite games. There is a ton of reasons (or excuses) I have for not having certain teams finished, and the biggest is that don’t think I’ll do that character justice in pixel form. Well, it’s time to finally get some of these crews repped 100%, and this

Marvel
: Nightcrawler (all-new sprite), LJN X-Men hero sprite edits (Colossus, Cyclops, Iceman, Storm & Wolverine)
Nintendo: Princess Peach and Toad (Super Mario Series)
Sega: Max Thunder (Streets of Rage 2)

That completes the Streets of Rage 2 roster (finally!), Super Mario Bros. 2, LJN’s X-Men game and Sega’s X-Men for the Genesis/Mega Drive. The Penguin sprite was the last character I needed to have one sprite or sprite edit of the original Super Powers figure lineup.

Mini-logos: Princess Peach (Super Princess Peach style) added to Nintendo section, Nightcrawler (’80s and Marvel Team-Up versions) added to Marvel section.

All of those things have been added to the Graphic Generators so you can make your own fun graphics and screenshots with them, too.

BTW: Anyone who knows where to find the old version of this section…

… can go there now and see the 90% finished redone version of it. I just couldn’t stand having the old version stinking up the joint any longer.

This year’s Free Comic Book Day hits this Saturday, ScrollBoss is having multiple updates this week. Each update will be filled with comic book-related things, including a few items that I promised a while back. This update isn’t purely comic stuff, but I think there’s enough for a comic fan to enjoy anyway.

Sprites
TMNT – TMNT arcade and Tournament Fighters (SNES) sprites and animations added.

Game Logos – TMNT Tournament Fighters (various versions) and Batman: Return of the Joker (NES) added.

Game Index – Captain America and the Avengers (Genesis), Spider-Man & the X-Men (SNES), TMNT IV (SNES) and Trojan (NES) added.

Vernacula-X – A few more terms were added and a few more terms were expanded. 1-UP, Versus Mode and Palette Swap were the most improved and now have small sprite or screenshot galleries.

Custom Sprites – Sprites were added to the following galleries
TMNT – Master Splinter and Shredder (’80s cartoon versions)
Marvel – Spider-Man edit (black costume)
Snow Job – Snow Job v.1

GFX Generators – All 12 TMNT Tournament Fighters (SNES) stages were added to the “Boxes, Flyer & Posters 160×192,” “Avatar 100×100,” and “Comics 88×136 pixels” styles in the GroupShot Generator. Spider-Man and the G.I.JOE:G.I.JOE team characters were updated while Splinter and Shredder were added as characters.

There will be an update tomorrow, including a scratch-made M.U.G.E.N. stage that I’ve wanted to make for a long time and something that quite a few of you asked to see once I added a version of it to the GFX Generators last year.

Here’s a small update that includes a few things tied to that Old-School update from November, improves some X-Men in the GFX Generators, and sets up things for the upcoming 1987 update.

GFX Generators
Updated characters: Flashgal (improved sprite, added pistol and sword sprites), Mario (added in-game Mario Bros. palette with darker blue), Centipede (added five palettes), Colossus (added sprite), Cyclops (Added sprites, including infamous intro sprite), Storm (added sprites), Wolverine (added five sprites)
Updated screenstyles: Centipede background added to the GroupShot’s 160×192 set-ups.

Sprites – Updates to Shinobi (sprites added, layout reformatted) gallery.

Game Index – Ms. Pac-Man, Flashgal and Ghosts ‘n Goblins (arcade versions) were added. Shinobi (arcade) was in the system, but didn’t show up on the main game list for some reason.

The website now has a Shop page. I’ve had a ScrollBoss store set up on my CafePress account for years, but never really put it on the site until now. Why? Because I made a design for it that’s something other than the ScrollBoss S symbol.

Those who have visited the message board might recognize that. The F-Bomb shirt is sold through CafePress and is available in Men’s and Women’s modes. I’m also working on some things that will be sold as art prints, possibly on deviantART but definitely as part of my print collection at conventions.

The site is twelve years old today, so it’s time to celebrate with a lot of new content.

Vernacula-X: A few definitions now link to their own pages with expanded definitions and extra goodies like game and character lists that link up to their respective indices on the site. More definitions will get their own pages and more goodies will be added over time.

That’s it for now. I have to go to sleep now, and go to work earlier than usual, so any site fixes will have to wait until the afternoon. I hope that all of you who visit on a regular basis enjoy the new stuff and maybe the new visitors will be overwhelmed by the sad way I’ve spent much of my free time for twelve years backlog of earlier content. I tried to mix it up between obvious, famous games (Contra and Metroid) and things that don’t get much of the spotlight (Vendetta/Crime Fighters 2, Karate Blazers). Have fun and thanks for visiting the site!
