It’s Alien day (named after mission LV-426 from the original Alien film) and here are some small additions to the Alien vs. Predator parts of the site:
Sprites: I finally went back and got idle sprites for all the weapons (that I know about), including the pipe found on the elevator, added some enemies and enemy palettes.
Game Index: fixed up some things and added the Round titles.
Character Profiles: Major Dutch Schaefer, Lt. Linn Kurosawa, Predator Hunter, Predator Warrior.

Also, I’ve still got that print in the shop:

Alien vs. Predator pixel art print

New River City Ransom/Kunio-Kun NES custom sprites of Dottie and Pee-Wee Herman (Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure), Dante (Clerks), Cheap Pete (Chris Rock), Alucard and Simon Belmont (Castlevania series), and Kiryu Kazuya (Yakuza series) have been added to that gallery and to the Shop generator, which also has two new shops: the Quick Stop from Clerks (and other fine View Askew products) and Chuck’s Bike-o-Rama (Pee Wee’s Big Adventure)!

edit: also (finally) added the scratch-made Lionel Ritchie sprite that appears in the upside down versions of the main index page and one of the April Fools main menu headers to the Music gallery.

I promised a ToyBoss/Toybox section update a while back, so here it isn’t. It’s here, but not everything I’d planned to do yet. I’ve added a few new photos, the beginning of section for how much of a game’s roster I have right now, and links to the toy-related custom sprite galleries. I also added links to toy sellers and/or makers I’ve ordered from and have seen that they won’t try to swindle you (unless you specifically order that Combaticon, then they’ll actually sell him to you).

One of those makers sells a dream-come-true item, the Articulated Icons line. the 1:12 scale (think Marvel Legends, DC Universe classics, most Storm Collectables figures) martial arts line, now famous for their Godfrey Ho-esque array of ninjas in various colors. I mentioned these figures a while back when I ordered my first ninja, a gray one that I will eventually customize into Sega’s Joe Musashi in his Genesis-era Shinobi gear. Now I’ve got 3 Brown ninja, Shokan in White ninja outfit, and a bare arms accessory pack (and I’ll be getting more).

They’re built for customization, so you can pop out the arms at the shoulder and switch ’em. They’re also super-poseable, so they’re good for drawing reference, too. They’ve got a sale going on for many of their figures, so jump on it while the jumping’s good!

Now that I’m kinda on break right now, I’ll be taking and posting more figure pics. I’ve been rebuilding after the loss of most of my Marvel Legends collection last June, and so I’m taking way more photos now instead of waiting for every roster to be 100%, being able to put together a really good set-up, or having a good camera. More toy section updates are on the way!

April Fools Day is tomorrow, and I’ll be adding some things to the image generators so you can make your own screenshots (along with the one-day return of the April Fools Day index pic on the start page).

“But I’m not even supposed to be here today!”

The first ever Superhero Sprite Showcade is up on ScrollBoss YouTube channel:

A huge thanks to AVPboy for letting me include that excellent CPS-2 sound remake of the Genesis/Mega Drive Batman’s first stage BGM! It sounds so good that I went back and sprited two thugs from that level that you saw in the first Batman clip.

The last two Superhero Sprite Showcases that people voted for last year are finally here in the same video, making it a Sprite Showcade, along with some bonus material at the end. I’m still locked out of my Anime Studio Pro 10 install, so the new clips were done with Blender, Magix Vegas, and combinations of both (like that quick panning shot with Iron Man, Hawkeye and Cap). The “pixel cover” format that made its debut in last month’s video are in this one, including tributes to some real comic covers. You’ll also see some sprites you haven’t seen before that aren’t in the sprite galleries or generators just yet.

DC Comics: Batman,Joker
Marvel: Iron Man and Whirlwind
EDIT 2020-03-27: Titanium Man added to the Marvel Gallery

All new sprites have been added to the GFX Generators! Whirlwind and Titanium Man are in the “Marvel Villains” character slot.

Still trying to take a bit of a break and give my drawing/spriting hand some rest, but still putting time in the lab, too.

Custom Sprites – Marvel: Storm (scratch remake of her Capcom Children of the Atom idle pose) and Monica Rambeau (resprited the pose inspired by Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 by John Romita Sr. and Jr.)
Custom Sprites – DC: DC: Bronze Tiger

mini-logo – DC: Bronze Tiger

All new logos added to the GFX Generators, where you can make graphics and fake screenshots like the one at the top of this post

Been experimenting in the lab with more video stuff, too, including an old idea I had for comic cover style clips for the Superhero Sprite Showcases/Showcades. Those clips were done in right in Magix Vegas because I don’t have my Anime Studio Pro 10 issues fixed yet. Since it’s Black History Month, it’s all Black Superheroes, and I’ll eventually do a full vid of this in the future.

Starting the year with some replacements for old sprite edits and some long overdue and requested characters.

Custom Sprites:
Rastan Saga (new separate gallery): Rastan (new scratch-made sprite based on his stance from the first game)
Ninja Gaiden: Bloody Malth
Undercover Cops: Rosa Felmondes/Blaze
Marvel Comics: Iron Man – classic armor in pose from cover #126
Movies: RoboCop

Sprite Rips:
Name Graphics: Select/Vs. from Vampire Savior-Darkstalkers 3, also includes the dozens of custom names I made for this site’s image generators (and a few that are still unused) by cutting, pasting, and rearranging the preexisting letters. Most of the extras are horror-themed. It also includes a gradient pattern file to use as a layer or fill when you make your own custom name graphics.

GFX Generators: today’s new sprites have been added to the appropriate generators (mostly the main generator), along with…
– the main generator’s side panel now has more short cuts so you spend a bit less time scrolling. I’ll continue to work on this and add it to the other generators later.

In December 2020, ownership of the Anime Studio/MOHO (the animation program I’ve been using since 2015 to render most of my video clips) changed to Lost Marble, which will be a really good thing from what I’ve read. What isn’t good is how SmithMicro didn’t give any warning about how the software ownership verification on your computer would stop working if you didn’t update immediately… which I only found out after it happened to me because they sent no heads-up e-mail of any kind. That means all my work in AS is either temporarily halted or just completely dead and will have to be redone. So I went back to the lab with other tools.

The 3-D shots were done in Blender with techniques I was experimenting with before I got Anime Studio. The 2-D Hall of Armor shot was made in Magix Vegas, the video editor I usually use to edit, assemble and render full videos, with layers of PNG and GIF files. So I’ll be spending a lot of time in the lab getting these alternate techniques down so I can get the videos going again.

Also, I’m taking a break for a month or two. I’m still very tired, mentally and physically, from how the last half of 2020 went for me offline, so I probably need to get some actual rest. My plans for taking commissions are going to be on indefinite hold, because I think I’m too tired to do those effectively.

Future updates additions to the Toyboss section, like my new Golden Axe Skeletons by Storm Collectables (lucked up and caught the restock on Bluefin) and the Articulated Icons Ninjas (most are 50% off until the end of January!) I finally got after fiending for them for a while. I highly recommend those ninjas, especially because they’re built for martial arts poses and customization.

Golden Axe Skeletons by Storm Collectables

Merry Christmas from Miss Santa (really, Wonder Woman, but don’t tell anybody), Santa Gilius, Haggar Claus, Santa Bison, and Kram-Poison (idea by @Myruh_Ret2 on Twitter last year) and I, PrimeOp. May it, or any other holiday you celebrate this time of year, be a good one!

All of those sprites have been added to the main image generator (which I used to make that screenshot). Yes, even the older sprites you’ve seen before, because I kept forgetting to add them.

Shake a hand, shake a hand, because it’s that time of year again! I can’t afford to give out toys to all of my friends, so I make an update based on my favorite toys (mostly from the 80s), including toys based on preexisting licenses. This year, G.I.JOE and Masters of the Universe made some strong comebacks, even if some were ridiculously hard to find on store shelves. That’s enough from me, go open your presents!

G.I.JOE: Clutch (v.1 toy, v.1 comic, v.2 tan recolor)
Street Fighter: Chun-Li, Ken and M.Bison (all G.I.JOE figure v.1, made from parts of preexisting Joe and Cobra bodies with new heads)
Masters of the Universe: Zodac (last figure needed for original line-up of figures), Hordak (highly-requested)
Thundercats: Tygra (finishing the original crew of adult Thundercats who weren’t ghosts, sorry Jaga)

All new sprites added to the main image generator!

Whatever it is that you’re celebrating this time of year, I hope it’s a great time for you!

BTW: this WON’T be the last site update for the year… stay tuned…

Custom Sprites:
Karnov: the RoboCop Karnov
RCR/Kunio-Kun NES: Karnov (classic)

These sprites were added to the image generators along with Clown (sprited him a while ago, somehow forgot to add him to the generators) and 4 Fighter’s History Dynamite/Karnov’s Revenge stages: Marstrius, Ray, Ryoko and Zazzie.

LordBBH has the Karnovember Fighter’s History Dynamite Tournament 11/21/2020 video up in case you missed it last weekend. I got there kinda late (and dropped a $5 into the prize pot), but there was a lot of wild stuff to be seen. Watching the tourney also reminded me to get more of the game’s stages into the generator. Congrats to everyone involved for putting together a solid tourney!

(edit: sale prices changed)
‘Tis the season to put on sales, so this is a reminder that the print sale in the site’s shop is still going on!
8×10 (and similar size prints) are $4 each, buy 2 and get one free!
17×11 (and similar size prints) $8!
Buy some as a gift for loved ones, total strangers, enemies, or even yourself. I’m not here to judge!

Custom Sprites (DC Comics): Lois Lane, Captain Marvel, Elongated Man, Vixen, and Raven.
Mini-logos (DC Comics): Elongated Man and Raven

All new sprites and mini-logos were added to the main image generator, along with a new scratch-made Metropolis background.

Finally, here’s the Superman Sprite Showcase vid debuted a few days ago. You’ll see new sprites and animations of Superman, along with another new sprite of Lois and the new Metropolis background.

That last shot was for all the old-school cartoon fans out there.
